Fish and Chip Evenings

Peppa Pig at the Railway - 25th & 26th March

Peppa Pig returns to the Railway for the first out of two visits in 2017!

Purchase a Ride All Day special event ticket and hop on one of our trains to the activity marquee at Dalegarth. Here you can see Peppa Pig and enjoy some entertainment. There will be photos opportunities so don’t forget your camera!

Online ticket prices are £15 adult, £7 child (3-15), free for children under 3. Tickets on the day will cost £16 adult, £8 children (3-15), under 3 free on the day.

Ticket includes full line return, Peppa Pig Appearances, marquee activity and a half price family voucher to return in the 2017 season.

Please note: Dogs are not allowed at this event and a buggy park will be available at Ravenglass.

Seating is allocated on a first come first serve basis, we will be running an enhanced timetable on both of these days.

Great North Steam Fair at Beamish

River Mite will be visiting Beamish museum in County Durham from 6th to 9th April 2017 for a re-enactment of its delivery from York to Ravenglass in December 1966 behind steam traction engine 'Providence'. 'Providence' will pull River Mite on a trailer around the museum road circuit throughout the 4 days. The team will also be there handing out goodies so come along and find us!

Teddies go FREE !

Join in the fun this Easter as we grab those teddies because #teddyfest is back!

All children travelling with their teddy bear travel free on Ride all Day fares when accompanied by a full fare paying adult. Keep an eye out for our teddy trail clues around the railway too to win great prizes! There is also some colouring activities at Dalegarth station and enjoy the free National Trust Exhibition, open all year.

Photography Days

The team is back to take you on a behind the scenes photography treat.

Meet at 8.30 Ravenglass Station for a tour around the workshops and a cup of tea in the Turntable Café, pick up your packed lunch, before embarking on the seven mile journey up the line to photograph passing engines en route. At Dalegarth enjoy some free time before heading back on the single line journey to your starting point at Ravenglass.

Limited places, book in advance, £45 per person includes welcome tea/coffee, packed lunch (sandwich, crisps, piece of fruit and bottle of water), guided photography walk and single train journey back down the valley.

Please note this event must be booked in advance as tickets are limited.

This is an outdoor event and requires an average level of fitness (you will be walking seven miles on ballast). Please bring suitable clothing.

Basic packed lunch is provided (sandwich, tray bake, piece of fruit). Please advise of any dietary requirement.

All participants must be aged 16 or over.

Steam to the Hills with an LDNP Ranger

Take the 'Ratty' steam train to Eskdale Green and walk back to the sea over Muncaster Fell with a National Park Ranger. Meet at 10.15 am to catch the 10.25 am train to The Green. Train fare applies, pay on arrival, reserve your place in advance as booking advised, £5 adult for the guided walk and children free. Young Engineers Day Out with Peters Railway

This is an exclusive day out on the Railway for all young engine enthusiasts!

Go behind the scenes and find out how an engine works with the author of Peters Railway as your guide, plus find out all about the history of the Railway in our Museum. Learn all about how our engines work and then travel up to Dalegarth, with a ride on a steam engine, where you will be read a Peter’s Railway story.

Ticket holders will receive a ride all day ticket that will be valid all day so that you can travel to Dalegarth, and each child will receive a Peters Railway book that you can have signed by the author himself!

There will be 2 groups on both days at either 10am or 12:30pm.

Tickets are £15 adult and £7.50 child, ticket numbers are limited to 30 for each session and children must be accompanied by an adult (1 adult per 2 children maximum).

Please note: this event is not suitable for children under 5 years old due to the engineers workshop part of the event.

Ticket numbers are limited so advance booking is essential.

Adventure Picnic with Ratty and the National Trust

Join us for a very special adventure picnic with Ratty at Dalegarth station. Also joining us on the day we will have the National Trust with their 50 things to do activities. More details to follow.

This event is part of our normal service and there will be a small charge for activities.

Statesman Rail The Lakelander

Enjoy a memorable day on board ‘The Statesman’ as it travels around the Cumbrian Coast. Probably the most stunningly beautiful scenic coastal line in England. Through an area steeped in maritime history with spectacular views of the Lake District Mountains and the wide panoramic expanse of Morecambe Bay on the journey to Ravenglass, where there is the opportunity to ride the legendary Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam railway into the Fells.

Halloween Ghost Trains

Back with more spooky tricks than ever in 2017 with two extra dates! Feeling brave?

Travel the line in darkness and keep those eyes peeled for some of our fiendish friends! This event is very popular and must be booked in advance.

Ticket includes all day travel and a reserved seat on the Ghost Train from Dalegarth.

The Ghost Train steams out of Dalegarth Hollow at 6pm but please note that this is a one way journey only. Make sure you park in Ravenglass and allow time to catch the train up the valley. Activities at Dalegarth include facepainting and spooky arts & crafts.

Tickets are £16 adult, £8 child (3-15), children under 3 are free.

Ticket includes all day travel on the railway, a reserved seat on the Ghost Train from Dalegarth, activities at Dalegarth station and a spooky sweet goody bag when, or if, you return!
