Dalegarth & Eskdale Ramble with two RangersA walk from Dalegarth Station with Graham Standring, the local National Park Ranger, and Andrew Porter, the local National Trust Estate Ranger, to look at the wildlife, landscapes, land management, and points of interest in the stunning Eskdale valley.
DATE/TIME: Sunday 7th September 2014. 11.20am start to fit in with Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway timetable – leave Ravenglass on the 10.30 departure to arrive at Dalegarth at 11.10. Ticket purchase required for railway, but discounted tickets will be available and walk is free.
MEETING/FINISH POINT: Either at Ravenglass station as detailed above, or Dalegarth station at 11.20. Grid Reference NY 174 007. Walk returns to Dalegarth station for return train.
LENGTH OF WALK: Approx 5 miles.
TIME: 3 hours to include stop for lunch (please bring packed lunch or buy sandwiches etc. at Ravenglass or Dalegarth stations).
GRADING: Easy. The walk will be along lanes and footpaths with a small amount of gentle climbing up the valley sides.
CLOTHING: Waterproofs and walking boots recommended.
