Two award-winning Cumbrian visitor attractions - Ullswater ‘Steamers’ and the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway are celebrating after receiving their latest accolades to add to their ever-growing collection.
The popular heritage attractions have both received a silver ‘Chinese Tourist Welcome Award’ in the ‘Product Adaptation’ category from the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (COTRI).
The awards were announced during the recent ITB China event held in Shanghai where colleagues from the VisitBritain Shanghai office collected the awards on behalf of the attractions. This year the international jury had to evaluate more applications than ever before with winners drawn from around the world, originating from countries as diverse as Uganda, Bulgaria, Indonesia and Morocco.
The Chinese Tourist Welcome Award (CTW Award) has been coordinated by the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (COTRI) since 2004. The awards are regarded both internationally and in China as the leading recognition of excellence for those working in the Chinese outbound tourism market.
Lisa Braithwaite Attractions Marketing Manager at Lake District Estates says;
“We are thrilled to be recognised internationally for the work we do at both Ullswater ‘Steamers’ and the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway. We are also proud to be contributing to keeping Cumbria firmly on the global map. We welcome visitors from all across the world and thrive on making each and every visit both the most memorable and worthwhile they can be to all of our visitors.”
