There are many trails to explore so here are some hints on some of the best. Please note that cycles must be pre-booked onto the train and cannot join or leave at intermediate stations.
The 8½-mile (14km) Eskdale Trail is a fully way-marked route taking cyclists from Dalegarth Visitor Centre through Eskdale away from cars to the coast at Ravenglass. Suitable for all ages, there is only one difficult section where some might find it challenging. To join the Trail, pre-book your bikes on the train, joining the trail at Ravenglass, travel by train to Dalegarth for Boot with your bike and return via the Trail which brings you back to the Railway car park.
There are three specially designed cycle route cards available to purchase from Dalegarth and Ravenglass, which detail numbered starting and finishing points to/from Dalegarth. If you are travelling on the train, don't forget to book your bike in first!
Each train has one carriage designed to carry cycles. Cyclists please note that it is not possible to board the train with your bike unless you have pre-booked. There is space of 4-6 bikes per train but wheelchairs take priority. Please call 01229 717171 to book cycles and wheelchairs onto the train at least 24 hours pre departure. Please note that cycles cannot be boarded at intermediate stations, Ravenglass and Dalegarth Stations only.

Get outdoors and explore the beauty of the Western Lakes with an electric bicycle. Electric Bike hire is located in Ravenglass. There are eight designated electric bike charging points throughout the Western Lakes, including points at Ravenglass and Dalegarth Stations.
