Maid of Kent is the second of the two Pullman Coaches located at Ravenglass Station available for self-catering accommodation. Overlooking the line, the accommodation is an ideal base for exploring the best of the county; including the Western Lake District's coast and England’s highest mountains or simply staying in and watching the trains go by!

Originally built as an Ambulance Car by the London and North Western Railway for use in the First World War, The Pullman Coach Company purchased this carriage in 1918. Initially a first class car and later, in 1948, a third class car she was retired from Pullman services in 1960. British Rail then converted her for use as a Camping Coach and she was assigned to Ravenglass, where she stands today. However in the mid 1960's Maid of Kent and fellow coach Elmira were moved north up the coast to Seascale. They were never as popular in Seascale and when British Rail decided to axe the Camping Coach scheme they were returned to Ravenglass before being removed from the coach registry in 1968.

  • 2 x Bunk Bedroom
  • Shower Room with W.C.

Inside the coaches keep a feel of their luxury past with the Edwardian style wooden panelling and Pullman Company crests taking pride of place. Both coaches are neatly funished and capable of seating up to six people in the dining area. Additional heating is provided by an electric fire and storage heaters.
