Elf-led Festive Storytelling at Ravenglass

Your Santa Express Experience begins at Ravenglass, where families are welcomed into the Ravenglass Railway Museum. Here, Santa’s elves bring classic Christmas tales to life through an interactive storytelling session. Led by the Head Elf, this engaging introduction sets the festive scene and builds excitement before boarding the train.

The Santa Express Steam Train Journey

After storytelling, climb aboard the Santa Express for a scenic 40-minute steam train journey through the Eskdale Valley. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is renowned for its narrow-gauge steam locomotives, and this special festive service offers a unique way to enjoy the Lake District landscape during the Christmas season. The journey is filled with seasonal atmosphere as you travel towards Dalegarth.

Meet Santa at Dalegarth Grotto

At the end of the line, guests arrive at Dalegarth Grotto, where Santa and his team of helpers are waiting. Pre-ordered food will be served while you wait to see Santa (see below for the options). Children are invited to meet Santa individually and receive a Christmas gift, creating a memorable moment for the whole family.

The Festive Train Ride Climb aboard for a magical 40-minute steam train journey through the stunning Eskdale Valley, building the Christmas excitement as you head toward Dalegarth Grotto.

A Magical Meet & Greet Santa and his team of merry helpers will be waiting to welcome you at Dalegarth Station and guide you to your table.

Festive Food & Drink Your complimentary drink and pre-ordered food will be served directly to your table. Additional food and drink can be ordered on the day (subject to availability).

A Special Gift from Santa Enjoy festive fun for the whole family! Groups will be called up individually to meet Santa, where every child will receive a special Christmas gift.

Please Note: Because this is a shorter, specialized event, Elf-Led Storytelling in the Museum and the Magician/Entertainer will not be present at Dalegarth on these specific dates.
