Join us for steam railway events and activities at the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway! In 2026, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway marks an extraordinary milestone — 150 years of carrying passengers through the heart of the Western Lake District.
Throughout the year, we’ll be celebrating this landmark anniversary with special events, family activities, heritage-focused experiences, and themed exhibitions in the Ravenglass Railway Museum.
One of our iconic 15-inch gauge steam locomotives also marks a major birthday in 2026. Northern Rock, designed by former Chief Engineer, Ian Smith, and built in the Ravenglass workshop, entered service in 1976. She marks 50 years this year, and we’ll be honouring her Golden Jubilee with a dedicated gala weekend in May.
