Guests can sit back and unwind with a meal and a drink, providing the perfect end to a train-filled day as they watch the mainline trains go by.

The Ravenglass Railway Museum tells the story of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway’s rich heritage and its interaction with the valleys along which it operates. Discover artefacts, steam locomotives, and hands-on interactive features. It is the perfect destination for schools and special interest groups. Entry to the museum is FREE (donations welcome). Ex British Rail Signal Box ( opening subject to volunteer availability), BR signal box garden and Pullman Carriage sensory garden. Our on-hand volunteers are happy to share their stories.
Our gift shops are conveniently located at both ends of the line selling heritage railway collectables, souvenirs, children's books, activity packs, and much more. You can even pick up a cold drink and some sweets for your train journey.
Our popular range of merchandise is also available from our online shop.
- Pushchairs and prams do not need to be pre-booked onto trains. However, due to limited space in carriages, they must be folded down and stowed in the guard's van. The guard can assist on your arrival.
- We have children's outdoor play areas located at both Ravenglass and Dalegarth for Boot stations, to allow your little ones to run off steam! Our adventurous family-friendly facilities will keep them entertained while you are waiting for the next train.
- Ravenglass play area is located above the turntable and is a secure area for children to play on the swings and have fun. The playground at Dalegarth is located adjacent to our woodland picnic area. We have plans to upgrade and extend this facility. Look out for more information coming soon.
We pride ourselves on being a dog-friendly tourist attraction. Dogs are welcome in most of our areas as long as they are kept on a lead.
- Bring your four-legged best friend on our steam trains for £1.50. (Dogs are not permitted in Pullman Observation Carriage 'Joan' and Director Saloon 'Ruth'. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.)
