Food and Drink

We have two cafés on-site at the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway offering both eating-in and takeaway options. We have also recently added the Ratty Arms Pub to our catering division here at the railway, providing an excellent option for a refreshing drink or a meal out in Ravenglass. Free Wi-Fi is available.

  • The Turntable Café is located on platform one of Ravenglass station and is the perfect place to pick up ice creams, drinks, and snacks including delicious pies. Dogs are permitted within this café on the lower floor. There is inside seating and covered outdoor seating on the platform.
  • Fellbites is our contemporary eatery on the platform at Dalegarth for Boot station. Here you will find sit-in or takeaway treats such as hot pies, sausage rolls, or ice cream. We offer a varied menu of light snacks or heartier bites freshly prepared on-site. Dogs are permitted on the lower floor of this building only.
  • The Ratty Arms Pub is located on the platform of Ravenglass station on the scenic Cumbrian Coast Line, which runs past the main terminus of our narrow gauge railway. Guests can sit back and unwind with a meal and a drink, providing the perfect end to a train-filled day as they watch the mainline trains go by.
  • We also offer some premium carriage experiences which include refreshments, such as our Cream Tea & Steam Experience - perfect for a special treat!
  • 25p off tea/coffee with a refill cup and café loyalty scheme in action so the more time you visit us the more we will reward you for your loyalty.

The Ravenglass Railway Museum tells the story of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway’s rich heritage and its interaction with the valleys along which it operates. Discover artefacts, steam locomotives, and hands-on interactive features. It is the perfect destination for schools and special interest groups. Entry to the museum is FREE (donations welcome). Ex British Rail Signal Box ( opening subject to volunteer availability), BR signal box garden and Pullman Carriage sensory garden. Our on-hand volunteers are happy to share their stories.

Our gift shops are conveniently located at both ends of the line selling heritage railway collectables, souvenirs, children's books, activity packs, and much more. You can even pick up a cold drink and some sweets for your train journey.

Our popular range of merchandise is also available from our online shop.

Pushchairs/prams and playgrounds
  • Pushchairs and prams do not need to be pre-booked onto trains. However, due to limited space in carriages, they must be folded down and stowed in the guard's van. The guard can assist on your arrival.
  • We have children's outdoor play areas located at both Ravenglass and Dalegarth for Boot stations, to allow your little ones to run off steam! Our adventurous family-friendly facilities will keep them entertained while you are waiting for the next train.
  • Ravenglass play area is located above the turntable and is a secure area for children to play on the swings and have fun. The playground at Dalegarth is located adjacent to our woodland picnic area. We have plans to upgrade and extend this facility. Look out for more information coming soon.

We pride ourselves on being a dog-friendly tourist attraction. Dogs are welcome in most of our areas as long as they are kept on a lead.

  • Bring your four-legged best friend on our steam trains for £1.50. (Dogs are not permitted in Pullman Observation Carriage 'Joan' and Director Saloon 'Ruth'. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.)
  • Look out for the 'Paws for a While' water stops outside
  • Lots of great walkies from the stations
  • Dogs are welcome on the lower level of Fellbites and the ground floor of the Turntable Café but are not permitted upstairs in either venue
  • Assistance dogs are welcome throughout including 'Joan' and 'Ruth'
  • We sell doggy ice cream too in our cafes
