Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway offers an exciting day out for the whole family - dogs are welcome too!

Read on to discover everything that you need to know to plan your steam railway day out. From timetable and event information to booking tickets and premium carriage experiences, we are here to help you get the most out of your visit. 

We recommend that customers pre-book tickets before visiting us as we have limited tickets available on the day. This will also allow you to choose your carriage and seat. Please call us to pre-book bikes and wheelchairs onto the trains as we have limited space available.

We pride ourselves on being a dog-friendly tourist attraction. Dogs are welcome to travel on trains (except in Observation Carriages) for a small charge, and in some inside areas. Assistance dogs are permitted throughout.

Museum

Take a peek into the past at the fascinating Ravenglass Railway Museum, where you can discover our story through artefacts, steam locomotives, and hands-on interactive features. 

Experience 150 years of our narrow-gauge railway, as well as learning about the origins of the historic Roman port of Ravenglass, and iron-ore mining in Eskdale.

Entry to the museum is free but donations are welcomed to help to preserve history.

Turntable Café at Ravenglass Station

Turntable Café

The Turntable Café is located on platform one at Ravenglass station. Dogs are permitted inside this café on the ground floor and there is plenty of undercover outdoor seating. Enjoy hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, locally sourced pies and cakes, and full meals made to order, as well as picking up pre-booked picnics. 

Fellbites Café at Dalegarth

Fellbites Café

At Dalegarth for Boot station visitors will find Fellbites café, our contemporary eatery. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available at the station. Dogs are welcome on the lower level of this building. Cream teas are served at Fellbites café as part of our 'Cream Tea and Steam' gift experience.
