Driver for a fiver is a brand new event this Summer from the Ravenglass Railway Museum, fullfill your childhood dream and learn to drive a steam train.
Every Tuesday from 24 July to 28 August you can become a steam engine driver for just £5 at the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway. They are running short driver experiences outside the locomotive workshop every 15 minutes giving you the opportunity to drive their steam engine, Katie, yourself. You will even receive a certificate at the end.
Katie was built in 1896 by Sir Arthur Heywood, came to our railway in 1916 and has recently returned to working order. To celebrate this, the Railway has put on this drive a train experience and is offering anyone called Katie the chance to participate for free.
Timeslots will be running from 10:30-15:30 and you can book your timeslot in the booking office at Ravenglass.
