Chris Vine 'Peter's Railway' Little Engineers' Day 30th - 31st October

Our Young Engineers will meet author Chris Vine at Ravenglass and experience a railway adventure ‘behind the scenes’. We will be visiting the steam engine running shed and our engineering workshop to piece together how a steam engine operates, taking turns to pull the levers in the signal box and enjoying a trip up the sidings on the footplate. In the early afternoon, we will be moving over to the museum for storytime about ‘The Ghost Train’. Afterwards, everyone can head up the line on an adventure of their own.

Autumn double-header trains

Come and visit our railway to experience the autumn seasonal spectacle of ‘double-header trains’, featuring two heritage steam engines rather than the usual one! • The 10.25 train will be double-headed as far as Irton Road. From Irton Road the train will continue with one locomotive.
  • The 11.25 train and the 13.50 train will be double-headed all the way around the railway.
  • The 12.50 train and the 15.10 train will be hauled by only one locomotive.
