Welcome to the Ratty Arms
The Ratty Arms is located on the platform of Ravenglass station on the scenic Cumbrian Coast Line, which runs past the main terminus of our narrow gauge railway. Guests can sit back and unwind with a drink, while watching the trains go by.
The Ratty Arms is dog friendly and wheelchair accessible with accessible toilet facilities.
The Ratty Arms was formerly a Furness railway station building. As a result of the Beeching cuts in the late 60s’, Ravenglass became an unmanned halt and when British Rail decided they had no further use of these buildings, the Railway Company purchased and converted them. "The Ratty Arms" public house was officially opened on the 13th of June 1974.

If you are looking for a dog-friendly pub in the Western Lake District, where you can enjoy a drink and a bite to eat with your four-legged best friend, look no further. At the Ratty Arms, dogs are welcome in all public areas, with a choice of indoor and outdoor seating. We also provide water bowls and a dog biscuit or two, so no one feels left out. Our pet-friendly bar is the ‘pawfect’ place to enjoy a pint with your pooch after a day of railway adventures, or if you are visiting the Ravenglass area.

We are OPEN on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (open all bank holiday Mondays). Closed Monday and Tuesday.

A unique group/corporate venue in Cumbria
Looking for catering options for a group tour or corporate meet and greet ? The Ratty Arms is a unique group venue for those with a love of all things railway related! We can cater for cream tea settings, soup and sandwich buffet options and coming soon our festive menu. Seating for up to 60, front seating overlooking the line has booth seating for 4/6 persons.
